Feeling healthy and sexy are two sides of the same coin. They go hand-in-hand. Society wants us to believe that feeling sexy is about being skinny, a beat face and bare. But I am here to tell you that being sexy begins and ends with a lot more than just that. It starts and ends with self-love and self care; how you treat yourself, feed yourself, and think about yourself.
Many of us neglect ourselves and then attempt to mask the insecurities that result with identity altering make up, wearing too little or too much clothing, and creating a false mental and sense of who we are. Now, that was my one sentence summary in which we will definitely breakdown in future writings.
True sexiness begins with how we feel. How we feel physically is determined by how we fuel our bodies and how we use the energy. Moreover, how we feel mentally and spiritually is a direct result of what we feed our minds, and how we use our thoughts.
Here are 5 ways in which we can be sexier by being aware of mind and body health :
1. Eating sexier - "That looks so good going down"
I was watching the Ellen Degeneres show a few years ago and she had Puff Daddy on as a guest. She mentioned to him that he looked very good for his age, and she asked him what was his secret. He said "I eat sexy foods"! I thought this was a brilliant and extremely true answer. So let's discuss with a sexier food choice would be. Hmmmm...snacking on juicy grapes over a bag of skittles. Skittles will result in rotten teeth, a false energy high, chronic illnesses like diabetes, and nonstop feeding of those fat cells around your gut that you hate. However grapes, can prevent acne, cancer, diabetes and is a super-food that enriches your life and energy! Go grapes – go sexy!
2. Drinking Sexier "Wow your skin is gorgeous"
Drinking more water, and hydrating the body is important to maintaining supple and glowing skin. It helps your skin to maintain its elasticity, which prevents stretch marks and tightness. Now who doesn't agree that THAT is sexy!? Oh, all we need is 1/2 your body-weight in ounces ;)
3. Working out - "Love the sweat you're in"
Working out increases serotonin levels. Serotonin can affect mood and social behavior, appetite and digestion, sleep, memory, and sexual desire and function. It's basically feel good juice! Exercise also releases pheromones which are invisible chemicals that are released by your body, that can alter another person's behavior, often sexual. Ever wondered why your man is so attractive when he comes home from a hard day at work, or to see a nice sweaty girl at the gym? Aha!
4. Sexier energy - "She just lights up the room"
Sexy people tend to have lots of attractive energy. People just want to be around them. They light up the room! These people are mostly leaders and visionaries who take great care of themselves. Body type has nothing to do with this, it's just the fact that they take care of themselves. These people are often in the gym and aware of what they eat physically and spiritually. They often get the part, job a role simply because of their acceptance for no less than excellence in everything. And I'm not talking about a coffee or diet pill high. I mean a love and zeal for life, that shines through because they allow their bodies and minds to work at their best, because they treat their bodies at best. Ergo real energy is real sexy!
5. Think Sexier - "I love the way you think!"
Those who take care of their mental health by feeding the inner spirit with meditation, awareness, and books that help them evolve, often tend to be more attractive to their peers. They often have only positive things to say, and I rather positive outlook on life. They tend to reach their goals, and are very resilient and times of struggle. Their peers, coworkers, and family either envy or look up to them. No one wants to be around a Debbie downer, and these types of people often hang out on the positive end of the spectrum making life seem meaningful and hopeful. I don't know about you, but this is a very attractive trait to me, especially in a man :-)
"I woke up like this, I woke up like this" I love those lines in that Beyoncé song. This is the way Every-woman should feel, every day and every moment. So start from with- in, by eating and thinking healthier and it will surely show on the outside as natural and long lasting beauty that inspires others! I do, and I am grateful :)
